Week 1 EFL LEAGUE TWO 2020/21

With all the sporting and life disruption Covid-19 caused all.... English Football League Two finally got underway last weekend.....

Week 1 Saturday 12th September 2020

Opening with a home match at the Peninsula Stadium against Exeter City was never going to be a easy game. However, many thought playing without the large away followings may help our home form.

With a strong squad arriving from Exeter and Salfords relatively new squad, there was lots of anticipation surrounding the opener... Would Salford click and how good is our new defence...

A fantastic start and goal for Henderson, the buzz started in a positive way... How many goals can the experienced Henderson score this season?

The good start didn't last long and Exeter soon turned up the pace and started playing through us very easily... Going in 1-2 down at halftime, was a fair scoreline and our expectancy of clean sheets was well and truly booted down Moor Lane...

Second Half

If Graham Alexander had a weakness last season, maybe it was not reacting to the game quickly enough with substitutes... Well, the break may have had Graham thinking about this himself, making 1 substitute at halftime and 2 more at 62 minutes...

These substitutes changed the game and put us on the front foot, pressing for the equalizer... which came from star man Ashley Hunter...

Could we have won... possibly but unlikely, as Exeter seemed to have been a even match for us, albeit on the rack for a lot of the second half.. Fair result, points shared.

On to Everton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and back to the league, away at Grimsby Saturday... Uo the Ammies!
